The Butterfly Guy
Tony Delia was born and raised in New York and came to Texas in 1986. He has lived in the Lake Highlands neighborhood since 1993. A cosmetologist by trade, Tony’s occupation centers on his loyal clients at a salon in Highland Park. His true passions, though, are gardening and raising butterflies. Over the years, Tony has specialized in raising monarch butterflies; and it has grown from a casual hobby into a thriving business. He often presents for school programs and garden clubs, sharing his enthusiasm for nature and love of butterflies. Tony is also an instrument rated private pilot, and enjoys flying his own Cherokee 140 around the Dallas area.
Tony is also deeply involved in his community. He was named as a candidate for Dallas Independent School District's Volunteer of the Year award for his work with M.T. Riley Elementary School where he helped created a butterfly garden and outdoor learning environment for the students. Tony also helped to raise over $10,000 to have a sprinkler system installed and for a beautiful Gazebo for the courtyard, and he continues to hold annual fundraisers to benefit the students. Tony’s involvement in the neighborhood has included participation in local Crime Watch, as well as serving on the board of his neighborhood association. Tony enjoys living in the Lake Highlands area and is very committed to serving the residents of his community and beyond.
